What is IGBT?

IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) full name is "insulated gate bipolar transistor", is composed of BJT(bipolar junction transistor) and MOS(insulated gate type field effect tube) composite fully controlled voltage-driven power semiconductor device. IGBT combines the advantages of MOSFET and BJT, such as low drive power and low saturation voltage. Using IGBT for power conversion can improve the efficiency and quality of power consumption, which is the key technology to solve the problem of energy shortage and reduce carbon emission. Igbts account for about 5-10% of the total vehicle cost and are the second most expensive component after batteries. The IGBT used in electric vehicles refers to the power conversion device used in the MCU of the drive motor controller, in fact, there are many applications in chargers, electronic control steering systems, high voltage frequency conversion air conditioning and so on.
