How do diodes work

One of the most important capabilities of a diode is the ability to control the flow of current in a circuit, that is, unidirectional conductivity. Unlike passive devices, which pass resistance or storage, diodes actively gain insight into the ebb and flow of current as it flows through the device. Here are two ways to show how current flows in a diode. (a) Forward Biasing: When the battery is properly inserted into the current, current will be allowed to flow through the diode. (b) Reverse Bias: Pass the battery in the reverse direction through the circuit and the diode will prevent any current from flowing
