The TPS6213XA-Q1 device is an easy to use synchronous step-down DC/DC converter optimized for the application. The high switching frequency of typically 2.5MHz allows the use of small inductors and provides fast transient response and high output voltage accuracy through the use of DCS-Control™ topology technology.

With a wide operating input voltage range of 3V to 17V, the device is ideally suited for systems powered by an intermediate bus supply rail. The device supports continuous output currents of up to 3A at output voltages between 0.9V and 6V (when using 100% duty cycle mode). The output voltage start-up ramp is controlled by the soft-start pin, allowing operation as a standalone supply or in a tracking configuration. Power sequencing is also possible by configuring the enable and open drain power normal pins.

In power saving mode, the device can generate a quiescent current of approximately 17µA depending on VIN. If the load is low, it automatically and seamlessly enters power saving mode and maintains high efficiency over the entire load range. The device is available in a 3 × 3mm (RGT) 16-pin VQFN package.
