1.Acquisition of GPU company

Beijing time, November 21 afternoon news, according to the U.S. IT website DailyTech reported that Intel and Creative Technology have reached an agreement to acquire the latter’s British subsidiary ZiiLabs for $50 million while acquiring the license of ZiiLabs’ high-performance graphics processing unit (GPU) chip technology.

Of the US$50 million Intel paid to ZiiLabs, US$20 million is said to have been used to purchase the latter’s GPU licenses, with the remaining US$30 million used to absorb ZiiLabs’ engineer resources and other assets.

It is reported that the transaction between Intel and Creative will be completed by the end of this year. Creative will then focus its business on the company’s core audio products.

2.Acquisition of Altera

Intel announced on 28 December 2015 the completion of the largest acquisition deal in the company’s history. The $16.7 billion acquisition of Altera highlights CEO John Coetzee’s intention to use new tactics to expand the business.

3.Acquisition of Mobileye

On the evening of March 13, 2017, Intel and Israeli technology company Mobileye jointly announced today that they have reached a definitive acquisition agreement. Under the agreement, an Intel subsidiary will acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of Mobileye for $63.54 per share in cash.

4.Acquisition of artificial intelligence startup

Aug. 17, 2018 – Intel has been on a buying spree of artificial intelligence startups. After acquiring Nervana, Mobileye, and Movidius, the company announced that it will acquire Vertex.ai, a startup that develops components for artificial intelligence models.

Acquisition of Finnish graphics company

On May 5, 2022, Intel announced the acquisition of a Finnish company called Siru Innovations to enhance its intellectual property (IP) and technology base in the graphics space.
