There are many kinds of integrated circuits, which can be divided into analog integrated circuits and digital integrated circuits according to their functions.  The former is used to generate, amplify and process various analog electrical signals;  The latter is used to generate, amplify and process various digital electrical signals.  An analog signal is one whose amplitude changes continuously with time.
